Often, however, the weather is also an important part of the travel equation. Bad weather or rain/snow storms may affect your route.
The Weather on the Way app provides excellent information about the weather forecast and driving route. After starting the navigation for long trips, you can see exactly the weather conditions as you drive through.
When planning, you can also choose an alternative route with the best weather. You can even choose a departure time up to seven days in the future.
You can also view live Doppler radar for potential snow or rain to keep you informed as you travel.
And just in time for winter vacations and trips to see family and friends, the app got a great new feature.
With CarPlay support, you can now use the app in a compatible car infotainment system. You can view weather radar, National Weather Service warnings, check weather conditions, and view turn-by-turn navigation.
The app is the first to bring live radar data to CarPlay, so it had to follow strict guidelines, so you’ll need to check the iPhone version for the animated radar when it stops.
Weather on the Way is a free download from the App Store for iPhone and all iPad models. CarPlay support is part of the Pro package. That’s $4.99 per month or $24.99 per year. There is also a one-time lifetime purchase for $84.99.
Other Pro features include alternative routes, travel forecast up to a week in advance and additional weather details such as wind, visibility and more.
A seven-day free trial of the Pro version is available for annual subscribers.
Especially for long trips in parts of the US with severe weather or snow, Weather on the Way can be an invaluable tool to help you avoid surprises along the way.
